Tuesday, February 14, 2017 session at the JICC Conference Room

Joshua Kohai guided us through a brief warm up session before we went through Mae and Ushiro Ukemi (both Suwari Waza & Tachi Waza) as well Mae Shikko courtesy of Toshiyuki San.

Later on, Toshiyuki San called a number of Aikidoka outside for a mock grading exercise while the rest of us continued with the following attacks/techniques:

SUWARI WAZA :

-Shomen Uchi Ikkyo Omote & Ura.

TACHI WAZA :

-Katatedori Shiho Nage Omote & Ura.

-Shomen Uchi (Kiawase) Ikkyo Omote & Ura.

-Katatedori Kokyu Nage (Kakarigeiko).

Haishin Undo ended the day's session.

Thursday, February 9, 2017 session at the JICC Conference Room

Once again we had Toshiyuki San guiding is through the whole session which began with warm up exercises followed by Mae & Ushiro Ukemi (Suwari/Tachi Waza) as well as breakfalls.

The attacks/techniques that followed were:

SUWARI WAZA :

-Yokomen Uchi Ikkyo Omote & Ura.

-Zagi Kokyu Ho.

TACHI WAZA :

-Katatedori Kokyu Ho.

-Morote dori Kokyu Ho.

-Ryote dori Tenchi Nage Omote & Ura.

-Katatedori Kokyu Nage Omote.

We called it wraps with a good back stretch (Haishin Undo).

Tuesday, February 7, 2017 session at the JICC Conference Room

Toshiyuki San kicked off the day's session with his trademark Japanese style warm up exercises followed by Mae and Ushiro Ukemi from both Suwari Waza and Tachi Waza, a round of breakfalls as well as Mae Shikko before we embarked on the following attacks/techniques:

SUWARI WAZA (all Omote & Ura) :

-Shomen Uchi Ikkyo.

-Shomen Uchi Nikyo.

-Shomen Uchi Sankyo.

-Shomen Uchi Yonkyo.

-Shomen Uchi Irimi Nage.

-Zagi Kokyu Ho.

TACHI WAZA :

-Shomen Uchi (Kiawase) Irimi Nage Omote & Ura respectively.

-Ushiro Ryotedori Kote Gaeshi.

-Ushiro Ryotedori Irimi Nage.

Thursday, February 2, 2017 session at the JICC Conference Room

It has been a while since Tony Sempai joined us for an Aikido session and i was glad to see him go through the warm up exercises with us before he left to join the Karate session in the main multipurpose hall.

Toshiyuki San guided us through the warm up session followed by Mae and ushiro Ukemi (Suwari Waza for the novices and Tachi Waza for the more experienced Aikidoka) as well as breakfalls and Mae Shikko before we went through the following attacks/techniques:

TACHI WAZA :

-Morote dori Kokyu Ho / Genkei Kokyu Nage.

-Ai Hanmi Katatedori Uchi Kaiten Nage (Omote & Ura).

-Yokomen Uchi Gokyo (Omote & Ura).

SUWARI WAZA :

-Zagi Kokyu Ho / Ryote dori Genkei Kokyu Nage.

We wrapped up the day's session with Haishin Undo.

-Genkei Kokyu Nage.

TACHI WAZA :

-Ryote dori Shiho Nage Omote & Ura.

-Katatedori Uchi Kaiten and Soto Kaiten Nage (both Omote) respectively.

Haishin Undo wrapped up the day's session.

*A reminder to the newcomers to assist in removing the Tatami and storing it in the storeroom at the end of each session.

Thursday, January 26, 2017 session at the JICC Conference Room

Bearing in mind that next month's Aikido seminar is drawing closer, this particular session was geared towards going through some of the Rokyu grading requirements.

After a lengthy warm up session as well as a round of both Mae and Ushiro Ukemi from Suwari Waza as well as Tachi Waza, what followed next was as follows:

TACHI WAZA :

-Katatedori Shiho Nage Omote & Ura respectively.

-Katatedori Kokyu Ho (Genkei Kokyu Nage).

-Ryote dori Tenchi Nage.

The day's session came to a close with a back stretch courtesy of Haishin Undo.

Tuesday, January 24, 2017 session at the JICC Conference Room

The session kicked off with the usual warm up exercises followed by intense breakfalls (Kakari Geiko) courtesy of Joshua Kohai.

What followed next were the following techniques executed from a static Ai Hanmi Katatedori stance (Tachi Waza):

-Ikkyo Omote and Ura respectively.

-Nikyo Omote and Ura respectively.

-Sankyo Omote and Ura respectively.

-Yonyo Omote.

Joshua Kohai ended the session by reminding us of the upcoming Aikido seminar with Andi Sensei who will be accompanied by other Sensei from the Aikido Ikeda dojo in Zurich, Switzerland.

Given the large turnout that is being experienced since last week, there has been talk of having Aikido intakes maybe twice a year. That is yet to be discussed....

Daniel Sempai led us through the rest of the session but first was the warm up session courtesy of Douglas Kohai.

The turnout was large just as it was during last Thursday's session and among us were a group of Japanese youth who practised with us during the entire session.

Toshiyuki San kicked off with his usual Japanese style warm up exercises followed by Mae and Ushiro Ukemi from both Suwari Waza and Tachi Waza as well as Mae Shikko.

The rest of the session featured the following attacks/techniques:
