Aikido classes, 2nd week of January 2012

On Monday, 9th January 2012, we were back at the Goan Gymkhana on Museum Hill, and we started things slow with some basic movements, followed by gyakuhanmi shihonage omote in the first hour. In the second hour we focused on gyakuhanmi kote gaeshi omote and briefly reviewed gyakuhanmi reverse-kotegaeshi and gyakuhanmi kokyuho. Final technique for the day was kokyuho kokyudosa.

On Wednesday we started off with gyakuhanmi kotegaeshi omote, but when this proved tricky, we went back to the basics of gyakuhanmi ikkyo omote. We spent quite some time on this, especially given that the majority of people since Monday have been beginners. So we took our time to refine each detail, though we couldn't finish due to time limitations. In the second hour we again continued with ikkyo omote. When it got too much, we changed pace by doing gyakuhanmi ikkyo ura, gyakuhanmi nikyo ura, gyakuhanmi rokkyo and some sort of ryotedori nikyo suwari waza technique. We did not have our usual weapons class and iaido, but we hopefully should be resuming this schedule as from next week.

Honestly, things are quite slow at the moment but from experience, no 2 classes are ever the same, so there are lots of surprises ahead.

Next class is on Friday, 13th at the Japanese Embassy.
