Friday's Class

Hello!

It's already another Friday evening. 7 days have passed and today's class was just as exciting as all the others.

Today we learnt 3 main techniques (from tachiwaza) namely:
  1. Gyakuhanmi Ryotedori Tenchinage Ura (ryotedori = double wrist grab)
  2. Gyakuhanmi Ryotedori Kotegaeshi Ura
  3. Aihanmi Jujinage Omote
The other techniques were in support of the above 3. They were
  • Katatedori Techninage Omote (the single wrist grab version of 1 above)
  • Katatedori Kotegaeshi Ura (the single wrist grab version of 2 above)
Concept wise, once one learns the katatedori version, moving to the ryotedori version is fairly straight forward as one merely 'ignores' the other grabbed wrist.

During today's class, instead of going directly to the ryotedori versions, we were taken through incrementally on how to perform them. This was cool as one could learn the 'building blocks' of the final technique as well as relate the techniques to each other.

In a nut shell, that was today's class. Looking forward to next Friday's class!
